I am a practicing children’s Social Worker and registered with the Health Care Professionals Council.
I have over ten years experience of working with vulnerable children and young people, in charitable organisations and the local authority. During my six years of employment as a Youth Offending Team Officer, I developed extensive skills and knowledge in the legal framework around working with children, risk assessment of young offenders, and communicating and engaging with children. I am an experienced assessor and case manager who has worked with the full range of community and custodial statutory court orders that are made in respect of young people aged 10-18, including high risk and high profile cases. I hold a range of skills in relation to youth justice including ASSET risk assessments and Risk of Serious Harm Assessments, work in Youth and Crown Courts and direct offence focused intervention with young people.
My particular areas of interest include young people who exhibit sexually harmful behaviours- I am fully trained in assessment and intervention with children who exhibit such behaviours using the AIM 2 model. Safeguarding children is also a key aspect of my expertise and interest, particularly concerning safeguarding from sexual exploitation.
I am also an experienced trainer in a range of topics related to working with children and young people, in particular those including those presenting with challenging behaviour, and those in receipt of statutory services.
I hold two first class honours degrees- Bsc (hons) Psychology and Criminology and Bsc (hons) Social Work.
